St. Timothy’s offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes in drawing, painting, design, 3D Design, and color theory. The Art Barn features two well-equipped studio areas with easels and drawing tables, as well as two kilns, four electric potters’ wheels, and two kick wheels for ceramics work.

Classes in each skill level are also available for budding photographers, printmakers, and sculptors. With such a scenic backdrop to be inspired by, many of our photography enthusiasts utilize the dark room and photo enlargers. Macintosh computers are also available for computer-aided design.

Students who have artistic skill or who appreciate art enjoy the lively discussions of our art history classes that cover the history of Western art.

In IB Art, students acquire techniques in the use of a variety of media and learn to relate art to its historical and social contexts. Each student is encouraged to develop an inquiring attitude toward visual phenomena and an understanding of the aesthetic and technical problems encountered in studio practice. Students acquire the necessary technical skills to produce works of quality along with an ability to present their work appropriately.

The International Fashion Show of Wearable Art, hosted each February by the Art Club, is an enormously popular event that allows students to showcase their creativity by designing and modeling fashions made entirely from recyclable materials.  For the 2009-10 school year, the Fashion Show will take place on Monday, February 1, 2010, at 7:00 pm.
