PSAT/NMSQT

While the PSAT is not a college requirement it presents an invaluable opportunity for students to practice and prepare for the SAT, as it reflects the type of questions that appear on the actual test.
The PSAT/NMSQT is administered in October of the junior year nationally. A PSAT score report will be mailed home in December and will provide insight into a student’s strengths and limitations with respect to the SAT. Thus, reinforcing that the PSAT is meant to help strengthen future standardized testing experiences. In addition to being a practice test, the PSAT is used by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to select semifinalists for its competitions. These scores are not reported to colleges nor do they play any role in the college admission process.
