Varsity Volleyball Defeats Frederick Force

On Tuesday, St. Timothy's Varsity Volleyball hosted Frederick Force. Frederick lost the coin toss, so St. Tim's started with the serve. Despite that, the Force took an early lead 8-15. Then junior Bri Rider came up to serve and tied up the game 15-15. St. Tim's next server, senior Melisa Kocak, served 3 in a row to increase the lead to 19-16. St. Tim's kept pushing forward and was able to close out the set 25-21. 

During the second set, senior, setter Hannah Mays was injured and needed to come out of the game. St. Tim's also got themselves into a severe hole, down 10-4 after 3 servers. St. Tim's was able to stay neck and neck in the set thanks to strong serves from freshman Madonna Akabuno and kills from sophomore Ariyanna Crewe. Unfortunately, Force's #8 came in to serve with the score 20-18. St. TIm's was unable to return the serve and Force took the second set 25-18. 

St. TImothy's started the fourth set ready to play. They immediately gained a 4-point lead. Force came back and the game went back and forth the entire set. St. Tim's closed out the set 25-21. In the fourth and final set, St. Tim's had another slow start allowing the Force to get a 12-6 lead. Junior Leena Feda was able to close the gap by serving 4 ina row to make the score 15-14 in favor of STT. Crewe then served 7 in a row to bring the lead to 23-15 in favor of STT. Force made a wonderful comeback to bring the score to 20-23. St. Tim's was unable to close out the game which brought up Akabuno with the score tied at 25-25. She was able to serve two in a row to win fourth set 27-25. 

St. Timothy's looks forward to their next league match against Friends School of Baltimore, home at 5:15 PM on Thursday, September 17.
