Varsity Volleyball shuts out Oldfields

On Tuesday, St. Tim’s Varsity Volleyball hosted Oldfields School. Despite missing their first serve, the game started off extremely well for St. Tim’s when their second server, freshman, libero, Madonna Akabuno served 7 in a row to give St. Tim’s an 8-1 lead. St. Tim’s next server, sophomore, Ariyanna Crewe served 11 in a row with 2 aces giving St. Tim’s a 20-3 lead. St. Tim’s won the first set 25-5. In the second set, Akabuno served first, but Oldfields was able to break the serve to tie the game 1-1. Crewe gave St. Tim’s a small lead when she served 4 in a row to bring the score to 7-2. Oldfields was able to increase their score 7-9, but then junior Bri Rider served 4 to give St. Tim’s a 14-7 lead. Senior Melisa Kocak then served 6 in a row, increasing the lead to 21-8. St. Tim’s won the second set 25-9. In the third set, St. Tim’s took an early 7 to 2 lead thanks to serves by Kocak and Akabuno. There was not a single missed serve by St. Tim’s in the third set with consistency being shown in all play. St. Tim’s won the third set 25-12. This brings St. Tim’s to a 4-2 league record. St. Tim’s will travel to St. Frances for a 4PM match on 10/10.
