St. Tim's Shuts Out Glenelg to Advance to Semifinals

On Friday, with families and students in attendance, the Varsity Volleyball team faced off against the Dragons of Glenelg Country School for the Quarterfinal match. Glenelg lost the coin toss, and St. Timothy's elected to serve. 
 
Melisa Kocak served first for St. Tim's, but Glenelg was able to get a side out. St. Tim's was able to break the serve and the serve pinged back and forth until it reached 15-14 for STT. Then sophomore Ariyanna Crewe took over and served four straight points for St. Tim’s bringing the score to 19-14. Glenelg could not take back the lead and St. Tim’s was able to win the first set 25-19. 
 
In the second set, Glenelg took an early lead 6-2. Crewe then proceeded to serve 9 in a row to bring the score 11-6 in favor of St. Tim’s. Hannah Mays then added 5 more to bring the score to 15-8. Then junior Leena Feda served 6 with 3 aces to give St. Tim’s a 22-10 lead. Junior Bri Rider closed out the set with the final 3 points to bring the score to 25-12. 
 
With momentum in their direction, St. Tim’s started off strong. They forced a side out immediately for each of Glenelg’s serves. St. Tim’s did not miss a single serve in the final set. Crewe served 9 in a row and Rider served the final 7 points in the set. Anna Trybus had the game-winning kill on a free ball. 
 
St. Timothy’s will advance to the Semifinal match on Wednesday at Beth Tfiloh School. Time to be announced.
