During the two weeks just after Winter Term, and just before Spring Break, the classroom walls fall away because it’s time for Winterim. Winterim is when your desk might be a campsite, your classroom might be in the U.S. Capitol, and your presentation on global politics might happen at the U.N. No matter what, it is an incredible learning opportunity that is uniquely St. Timothy’s.

During Winterim the educational journey that defines the St. Timothy’s experience gets especially adventurous. Winterim is learning by experiencing, learning by getting your feet wet, learning by doing. You’ll learn self- reliance by backpacking on the Appalachian Trail or navigating a canoe through whitewater. You’ll learn about democracy and civic responsibility by traveling to places like Gettysburg, or the Supreme Court, or the White House, where those principles have been shaped and tested and fought for, and where you’ll meet with world leaders who are champions of those ideals today. You’ll gain insight into some of the most fundamental issues facing the world not by reading a text, but hands-on, in the real world.
