Field Hockey Defeats Mercy

St Timothy's Field Hockey team defeated previously unbeated Mercy in a rain-soaked battle Thursday afternoon. St Tim's struck first off a penalty corner as Junior Captain Symone Welch played the ball up to classmate Olivia Palermo who collected the ball and sent a strike to the left corner. The visitors would tie the game 10 minutes later to take a 1-1 tie into halftime. It was a back and forth possession game throughout the second half with both teams threatening each others' circle. At the 2 minute mark, Palermo would drive into the top of the circle and send a pass to senior forward Anna Nagai who snuck it inside the right post for the game-winner and her first career goal. Freshman Holland Koontz made her first start in goal for St Tim's and made 3 saves.
