Field Hockey ties undefeated Key School

On Friday afternoon, the varsity field hockey team hosted Key School and earned a 2-2 tie, bringing their overall record to 4-2-1. St. Timothy’s struck first with an unassisted goal from senior Ellie Bowen just five minutes into the contest. The score remained 1-0 for the next 18 minutes when The Obezags scored an unassisted goal. Approximately five minutes later, the visiting team struck again to take the lead heading into halftime. The second half was a midfield battle and consisted of strong defensive play by both teams until freshman Olivia Palermo scored her first goal of the season with 11 minutes remaining in regulation. The score remained tied and was sent into one 10-minute overtime period. There were no goals scored during the 7 v 7 extra time, so the final tally would remain 2-2. Asia Boateng made four saves throughout the 70-minute contest, while St. Timothy’s earned three attacking penalty corners and held off seven from penalty corner attempts by Key School. St. Timothy’s will face Key School again on Tuesday, October 4th when they travel to Annapolis for a 4pm game.
