St. Tim's Varsity Volleyball Hosts Play Day

Set 1 - STT 25 - BT 20
Set 2 - STT 25 - OF 17
Set 3 - FSB 25 - STT 22
Set 4 - STT 38 - GFS 20
On Thursday, St. Timothy's hosted 4 other varsity squads for a C Conference Playday. Each team played 4 25-minute sets.

During St. Tim's first set, they faced off against Beth Tfiloh. St. Tim's started off strong, with a string of aces by junior Leena Feda. However, STT allowed BT to come back after a number of serve receive errors. STT rallied again thanks to 4 kills by sophomore Ari Crewe. They were able to hold BT at bay to win the first set 25 to 20.

For the second set, St. Tim's faced off against Oldfields School. Again the strong serves by STT, put them at an immediate advantage. Oldfields came back with great receives and a number of kills, but the St. Tim's defense bounced back and was able to break the service streak thanks to junior Ari DeGuzman. STT was able to keep the offensive rallies going to close out the set 25-17.

In the third set, St. Tim's battled Friends School of Baltimore. The set was neck and neck the whole way with excellent defense on both sides, led by junior Bri Rider and Crewe. Unfortunately, as time winded down, STT fell short of FSB 22 to 25.

In STT's final set of the day, they played Garrison Forrest School. Although tired from playing 3 consecutive sets, the team came out strong and fully energized. They set a goal of setting up kills and they exceeded their goal. They also worked hard to lift each other up and create a team spirit. STT finished the set 38-20.

Notable offensive stats include Crewe with 11 kills and Rider with 6. In addition, Crewe had 11 aces and Feda had 6. Senior setters Melisa Kocak and Hannah Mays had 9 and 7 sets respectively. Notable defensive stats include Feda with 10 digs and Crewe and Rider with 7 apiece. Crewe had 3 solo blocks and one double with Kocak. Kocak also had a single block.
