Varsity Volleyball loses tough match to Friends

On Thursday, St. Tim's faced off against league rivals, the Friends School of Baltimore. The game started out quickly in St. Tim's favor when the amassed an early lead 12-3 thanks to 8 serves in a row by sophomore Ariyanna Crewe. Unfortunately, Friends' serves were tough to hold off and they were able to come back to bring the game 18-22. Despite a number of strong serves, St. Tim's was unable to hold the lead and they lost the first set 23-25.

St. Tim's came out strong in the second set and took an early lead 19-4 thanks to freshman Madonna Akabuno's strong serve. St. Tim's held Friends at bay and was able to win the second set 25-8.

Tired, but enthusiastic, St. Tim's set out into the third set. The game was neck and neck tied 16-16, but Friends' strongest server was able to score 6 in a row to bring the score to 23-16. St. Tim's was unable to push forward and lost the third set 25-16. 

Reinvigorated in the fourth set, St. Tim's stayed close with Friends the entire set, the match never differing by more than a few points. Unfortunately, it seemed like the St. Tim's team ran out of gas. They lost the fourth set 25-23. The match was won by Friends 3-1.

St. Tim's looks forward to their next match on Tuesday at Concordia Prep at 5:15 PM.
