St. Tim's ends spectacular season with appearance in the Champs!

STT soccer ended its 9-1 regular season run with an exciting show in the playoffs.  It began with quarterfinals against Indian Creek last Tuesday.  The first half was a tough one for STT and their first goal did not come until Avy Rohr scored in the 37th minute.  This was followed up by a Mary Ann Salim hat trick in the second half, defeating IC 4-0.  Next stop was semifinals against a tough opponent that we have not seen since the first game of the season - Palotti.  Salim put St. Tim's on the board first with a goal in the 13th minute.  Palotti continued to fight back until they took the lead 2-1 late in the second half.  STT kept their composure and did not quit.  Assisted by Meg Bowen, Salim found the back of the net again in the 72nd minute to tie the game 2-2.  The teams went into overtime.  After a scoreless additional 20 minutes, the decision would lie with penalty kicks.  Goalkeeper Ciara Rook already had a phenomenal game in goal and came out confident for the PKs.  Palotti kicked first and Rook made the save.  Goals by Meg Bowen, Natalia Boumatar, and Julia Liposky ensured the STT victory.  Next up was the championship game versus Park School on Saturday.  The game was played at Anne Arundel Community College.  Plagued by several injuries, STT soccer showed up for a fight.  The team played their hearts out against an undefeated opponent and definitely gave Park a great and challenging game.  STT took the lead in the first half with a goal by senior Lauren Streaker.  Park tied it up late in the first half.  In the second half, STT continued to fight and the game winner for Park did not come until the last 10 minutes of the game.  The game could have gone either way and the girls of St. Tim's soccer showed a lot of heart and determination out on that field.  The coaches are so proud of all the players for a fantastic season!
