St Tim's Tops IND

St Timothy's Field Hockey Team used a balanced attack and strong defense to beat Institute of Notre Dame in their IAAM C Conference opener.  The host Penguins got on the board first with a goal off a rebound at the 7 minute mark.  St Tim's would settle into a strong passing game and was able to threaten with three penalty corners and several scoring changes later in the first half.  With about 7 minutes left in the half, junior forward Hannah Malloy scored her first career goal off of a rebound to tie the game.

St Tim's played a strong second half behind the defensive play of senior back Cas Colmenar and sophomore keeper Mia Hembling, who finished with 8 saves.  St Timothy's scored the go-ahead goal with 10 minutes to go in the game as junior captain Olivia Palermo sent a long pass from the top of the circle to classmate Symone Welch to knocked it in off the left post.  Behind the strong midfield play of senior captain Gwen Van Doren and sophomores Hannah Korn and Marisa Brocato, St Tim's held on for the win.
